Understanding the ARD Process
The Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process is central to special education in Texas. It ensures that parents, teachers, and specialists collaborate to design an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that meets the student’s unique needs. Thrive Center for Success encourages families to review the ARD Guide and safeguards listed above to understand their rights and responsibilities.
Parent Rights and Procedural Safeguards
Parents of students with disabilities have federally protected rights to be involved in every step of their child’s education plan. The Notice of Procedural Safeguards provides detailed information about those rights, including evaluation, placement, and dispute resolution.
